Our 14mm Blue Metal is a popular decorative gravel used for garden beds, pathways, stepping stone areas and landscape features. The angular shape helps the stone compact slightly once laid, making it a practical choice for areas that are walked on.
 
This product is supplied as 14mm down, meaning the load contains some smaller particles as well as the larger stones. These smaller pieces help fill the gaps between stones, creating better ground coverage, making it easier to walk on and reducing weed growth compared with larger decorative stone.
 
Coverage Guide
Bulka bags contain approximately 0.7m³ and will cover around 13–18m² depending on the size of stone and depth applied.
 
For decorative use we recommend working on approximately 50mm depth.
Decorative Stone as Garden Mulch
 
Stone can be used as a long-term alternative to organic mulch, particularly in windy areas or locations where organic mulch tends to blow away or break down quickly. Unlike bark or wood mulch, decorative stone does not rot down over time and generally does not need topping up.
 
For improved weed control we recommend installing weed mat, cardboard or newspaper beneath the stone, and applying weed treatment if required (taking care around existing plants).
